North Africa Ministries
Country: Algeria

The Muslim country of Algeria needs Jesus!  In the 7th century Arabs poured into this land and tried to impose their language and culture upon the Berber people who lived there.  Generations of Berbers grew up hating the Arabs.  British, French and American missionaries left their mark by raising up two small churches in Algeria among the Arabs in the 1970’s.  These true believers started to evangelize at Berber soccer matches and revival began.  North Afric Ministries is actively involved in keeping this revival alive.   We are committed to spread the Gospel through personal testimonies, literature, radio and T.V. programs. We will follow up new believers and establish strong churches where there is little or no Christian witness. We will train and disciple leaders in the Word of God and the major doctrines of the Christian church. Finally, we will mobilize the church to become a mission-minded, church-planting movement that will influence all of Algeria, North Africa, Europe, and the rest of the Muslim world.  North Africa Ministries has a staff of nearly 60 to carry out these ministries. For the last ten years we have conducted summer camps and over 2,300 believers have taken part.  Our Timothy School that trains new believers has graduated 107 students from its one-year program and 20 churches have been established. We have had the privilege of baptizing more than 300 converts and watched them stand strong in the face of persecution.  We praise God that He has used this ministry to bring love and unity between Berber and Arab believers.

Churches To Be Closed in Algeria

We recently received this email at our offices.  Please make this a matter of prayer. Dear Brothers and Sisters, Warm greetings in Jesus' powerful and mighty Name!  The head of the EPA ( The Algerian Protestant Church Association) has received the following order from the High Police commissioner in his town:  "On May 5th, 2011, a decision has been made according to article number 566/11, to close down throughout the country all the Christian worship places, which are not designated for religious purposes.  I, Mr Ben Salem, the high commissioner of the police in the Bejaia area, have informed Mr. Mustapha Krim, the President of the ( EPA ) Algerian Protestant Church...

Pray for IRANIAN PRISONERS

Many of you have been praying for the Iranian Christians who have been imprisoned for months.  Most of these have  been released, but still face the threat of future trials and persecutions, as well as suffering the after effects of their persecution.  One prisoner who arrested last Christmas, Farshid, is still in prison.  Please keep him in prayer.  However, there are other believers who are in prisoner who had been arrested before the Christmas wave of persecution.  Also, remember to continually pray for the many others who are have suffered and are still suffering in the church in Iran. Elam Ministries, one of ANM's ministry partners, has produced a moving video...

Bin Laden is Dead... the Aftermath

As you know, President Obama announced last night (Sunday, May 1, 2011) that after ten years of intense effort by U.S. military and intelligence forces Osama bin Laden, the founder and leader of Al Queda, had been killed by U.S. Navy Seals.  While many rejoice at this news, as Christians we must be conscious of the situation this creates for many of our brothers and sisters overseas.  The thought that there might be reprisals in the wake of this event must have occurred to many of you.  Sad to say, this is already the case.  We have already received reports from our ministry partners reporting such reprisals.  This follows other attacks on Christian...

Photos of Egyptian Protests

The protests in Egypt have drawn the attention of the world in recent weeks.  Just a few days ago we received these photos at the offices of Advancing Native Missions.  These pictures illustrate the unrest and turmoil that is currently happening in Egypt.  Please remember to keep this country in your prayers.  And especially remember to pray for our Christian brothers and sisters in Egypt.                              ...

Iranian Christians Arrested

Over 70 Believers Are Imprisoned In Iran During Christmas! To the left are the faces of faithful witnesses for Christ who are now imprisoned and suffering for nothing else than being Christians.  These are only a few of the dozens of people who are being persecuted in Iran today.  This is the story of what has happened to them in recent weeks.   In the early morning hours after Christmas day, the Iranian government arrested 25 Christians in Tehran and other locations. They also planned to detain sixteen others, but were unable to locate them. There are also unconfirmed reports that the authorities have arrested over 50 other Christians. According...

The Light Shines in Iran

Thank you for helping us shine the light of Christ into Iran this year. The light cannot be contained. In Iran today, once the light shines on one family member, it soon reaches others. The light shines in Tehran : Mona began witnessing to a lady she met in Tehran . To her surprise, the lady, Sahar, told Mona that she and her husband, Issa, had already met Christ but had no one to help them grow as believers. Sahar asked Mona if someone could teach and disciple them.  Mona arranged for two Elam graduates to meet with Sahar and Issa every two weeks. Each time they met, other members of their family joined them, and each time two people came to faith in Christ - a father, sister, mother,...

Middle East

God is working in the Middle East.  Indeed, God is moving mightily in this region of world.  Here in the ANM offices we often hear testimonies of miracles, appearances of the "Man in White," and whole families coming to the Lord as a result of dreams and visions.  Yet, you will note that there are only a few ministries listed for this region of the world.  It is not that we do not have ministry partners in this strategic region.  In truth, we have many.  However, the nature of their work prohibits revealing any details about these ministries, their leaders and their efforts in proclaiming the Gospel.  We value these brothers and sisters very highly, and thus for their personal safety their work must be kept
C O N F I D E N T I A L

But though we cannot mention specifics, be sure to keep the Middle East and the work of God's church there in your prayers.
