Organized by Wilson Ladringan, whose ambition as a child was to become a soldier like his father, the Aetas Bible Study and Worship Center (ABSC) is a ministry reaching out to the illiterate and impoverished aborigines of the Philippines known as the Aetas. The eruption of Mount Pinatubo in June 1991 buried most of the mountains of Zambales in volcanic ash and sand, displacing many of the Aetas who lived in these mountains. ABSC runs Maranatha Children’s Home that primarily caters to the physical, educational, and spiritual needs of the indigent Aeta children and youth ages 5 to 18 years from the different tribal villages in Zambales. Both Wilson and Cora have degrees in education, which enables them to provide training to the Aeta children through the “To God Be The Glory School.” Wilson writes, “It is the fervent desire of our hearts to see the Aeta children grow and develop into a God-fearing, educated, mature, and committed group of Christians who can some day be used mightily by God to evangelize their own people. This is our primary goal and vision.”

Deadly Floods in the Philippines

Dear ANM Family,   I pray that ANM is doing well in advancing the kingdom of God.   I just want to let you know that we really need prayer.  Last [week] we experienced a great downpour of heavy rain, and some parts of the city were flooded. In one of the areas that was affected with flash flood there are 25 confirmed dead as of this moment and a number of people are still missing.   Eight young people from our church were affected. One of our youth leaders, whose parents were planning to a attend our coming weekend event, their house with everything they have was washed out by the flood.  One member we have lost all their appliances and things in the house because...

Good Report from the Philippines

Dear Friends at ANM, Shalom! For about a couple of months now, we are praying to the Lord concerning our daughter Praise. We praise and thank our Lord for giving us a daughter who has a dream and passion to help the Aeta children and women in the area of human rights and  legalities. Many of the Aeta people are being harassed and oppressed by influential people especially concerning their rights as a people. They are being maltreated, abused, discriminated, insulted and taken advantage of cruel and crafty people. One tragic example of abuse and inhuman treatment done to the Aetas was about Marilou and her son Samuel.  Marilou was brought to the local hospital to give birth to her...

More on BURMESE EARTHQUAKE

To Help the Suffering in Myanmar, please click on this link.  Choose "Other" as your contribution type, and then select "Myanmar Earthquake."  Thank you. We have just received photos of the devastation (see below)   Update on Myanmar Earthquake (April 4, 2011) Our hearts are still sorrowing in the aftermath of the horrific earthquake that struck Japan last month.  However, the enormity of the Japanese quake and tsunami has virtually eclipsed another calamity in Asia, this time in Myanmar (Burma).  On March 24 this Southeast Asian country was struck by an earthquake now said to be of a 7.0 magnitude.  Although the loss of life is much...

Feeding the 500,000

Between feeding programs, shoe box gifts, and discipleship programs, Bethesda Ministries in the Philippines is currently reaching 500,000 children, but who knows how much impact comes from the "ripple" effect that trickles throughout the family - brothers, sisters, parents, grandparents and housemates. Such an effect could easily add up to 1,000,000 people being reached with the saving message of Jesus Christ.   The ministry leaders at Bethesda are excited about the infinite possibilities that have been unfolding before their eyes. They’ve worked so hard to come to this point, yet they realize that the work is not yet finished. But the many amazing testimonies that are being told...

The Fire in my Heart

I am one of the teachers at GEBS as I want to share the things that God has taught me. I thank God for GEBS and for the people whom He his using to challenge me to really live by faith. To God be the glory! My name is Glory Suplico from the province of Palawan. I enrolled in GEBS in 2007, leaving my husband and two children in Palawan. In spite of hardships, financially and emotionally, I was able to endure because I truly love the Lord Who called me. He has proven to be true to His promises. I am now in my third yead in the seminary. My husband and two daughters are now with me at GEBS. God has been so faithful in providing for our needs. I am earnestly praying that the fire in my heart...

A Second Chance from God

I am Pastor Sellry Eli Pioquinto. I came to GEBS when I was a boy. My aunt took me here and I said then, "When I grow up I would study here." However, being an only child, I was overprotected by my parents. After high school I studied in different secular schools in Bacolod City but did not finish because I knew God had called me to the ministry. I enrolled in Doane Baptist Seminary with sufficient support but i abused  God's blessings. In my third year I was disciplined. In defiance, I left the seminary, went to Manila and stayed away from the Lord. For seven years I wasted my time and lived in the world. But I praise God that whomever He loves, He chastens. I returned home repentant and...

SOUTHEAST ASIA

Southeast Asia stretches from India in the west and China in the north to the Pacific Ocean, and is made up of 10 different countries.  Indonesia has the largest population in the region, with as many people as the rest of Southeast Asian countries combined.  In addition, 88% of people are Muslim, Indonesia being the largest Muslim country in the world.  Indonesia is also the world’s largest archipelago, with over 17,000 islands.  Thailand is the only country in this region that was not colonized by Europeans.  The region is dominated by Buddhism, Islam and Hinduism.
