India Missions

Beauty for Ashes: Two Weeks in India       It’s 5:30 in the morning and the first sounds we hear are birds chirping outside the window. And yet an even sweeter sound competes with the tranquility of the dawn of another day. It’s the sound of children’s voices lifted in songs praising the one true God, Jesus. What children rise at such an early time to praise, worship and pray? The 70 children of Rehoboth Home, an orphanage begun by Malliga Chandran and her husband.  On July 13th a team of 8 people from ANM came to minister and work with the children, teachers, staff and HIV widows there. I was part of that team.     Every day we are...

Tears Of A Widow

"Everything we do is started with prayer and we give God the glory for all He has done."  Malliga Chandran started the Rehoboth Home for Children as a refuge for orphans in India. Malliga and her husband work tirelessly to offer the children of Rehoboth Home safety, unconditional love, and a family.  Rehoboth Home for children is a place orphans can call home.  Each child is given an opportunity to learn about the love of Jesus Christ.  To hear the children sing of God's love in their broken English is truly remarkable in this community of Hindu worshipers.  Malliga's dream to spread the love of Jesus has grown into more than she could have imagined.  God...

Baking for Missions

What's a girl to do for her 14th birthday? How about host a bake sale to raise money for a ministry in India? That's what our young friend Micah did. Check it out in her own words: "I wanted to do a bake sale to benefit orphans because God has put helping orphans on my heart.  So we decided to do one to raise money for the children in the Rehoboth Children’s Home in India.  Some people from our church were doing a yard sale and we were joining in, so we decided to do the bake sale then, too. "We spent the last two days before the bake sale cooking.  Together with two other families from church we made about fifteen different kinds of baked goods.  We just asked for...

Hope for Orphans

In an Indian village, a three-year-old boy is crying. He is naked and orphaned and crying for the bread he never received for his labor… K.G. Easo hears the child’s cries and provides a solution. The child is adopted by a local pastor and will never go hungry again.   A small boy who has already lost his mother is left at an orphanage doorstep by his sickly father. As the father places a small amount of rice in his son’s hands, he tearfully remarks, “Son, I have nothing more to give you.” Here at Soul Winners India, he has been given hope.   In a tribal village, a mother sobs, “Oh my son! For my food I sold you; I sold you for 20 rupees. I did...

Hope for Orphans

There is a ministry in the Ukraine that runs a summer camp for orphans and children from poor families. At this camp, kids are taught the love of Jesus by having it demonstrated to them. They attend Bible lessons, create crafts, play games, and sing songs. Last year, this ministry conducted four camps drawing a total of 406 kids. Many of these kids wrote letters of appreciation, telling the ministry leader of how they have finally seen real love and felt - perhaps for the first time in their lives - as if they were part of a family. Bible lessons is a favorite among most of the kids there, for it is during these lessons that they learn about this love they so desperately crave. Another...

Learn About Rehoboth Home for Children

Below is an excerpt from a newsletter about Rehoboth Home for Children: “To understand India, you must imagine yourself walking down dusty streets, past the sights of fruit stands, jasmine flowers, multi-colored fabrics, and Hindu shrines; past the homeless, the poor, and their small homes made of coconut leaves; and through the sounds of bustling traffic and busy marketplaces. However, in one southern city, there is an oasis where visitors are greeted by children’s laughter and the sounds of them at play. Welcome to the Rehoboth Home for Children. The home is made up of two buildings (one for boys and one for girls) separated by a grassy field. A vivacious Indian woman...
