Partnering to Reach the Nations

“We cannot repay you all yet only eternity can reveal the significance of your gift to us.” –a native missionary in the Philippines   David C. Cook is partnering with Advancing Native Missions to reach every child in every nation by providing free curriculum resources to some of ANM’s ministry partners around the world. Many pastors, churches, teachers and students have been blessed with these much needed materials.   For instance, one of our native missionaries in the Philippines recently received more than 800 books to be given to the pastors and other ministry leaders, 55 Bible story materials to be distributed among the kindergarten teachers, and at...

Praises from the Philippines

Recently ANM's Warehouse for the Nations sent a Forex box to Church Builders Ministries in the Philippines.  Below is the report we received back.  The jerseys shipped were a real blessing!   Greetings, Once again I would like to thank you for the basketball uniforms that you advocated and sent to us.  Our group of 10 -14 year olds are now ready for the tournament.  Our goal is 'NO BIBLE NO BASKETBALL.'  We are praying that the Lord will provide shorts for these four teams of our CBM outreaches.  Please convey our thanks to the donors of the uniforms.  God bless you always. Deadly Floods in the Philippines

Dear ANM Family,   I pray that ANM is doing well in advancing the kingdom of God.   I just want to let you know that we really need prayer.  Last [week] we experienced a great downpour of heavy rain, and some parts of the city were flooded. In one of the areas that was affected with flash flood there are 25 confirmed dead as of this moment and a number of people are still missing.   Eight young people from our church were affected. One of our youth leaders, whose parents were planning to a attend our coming weekend event, their house with everything they have was washed out by the flood.  One member we have lost all their appliances and things in the house because...

Medical Ministry Needs a New Vehicle

Would you consider helping Philippine Gospel Association (PGA) purchase a new ministry vehicle for their medical outreaches?  Take a look at project #504 on our project page (for more information) and also go to our Southeast Asia tab and check out PGA's page.  The cost for this new vehicle is $15,000.00 but if many join in to help reach the goal, this ministry team could be using their new ministry vehicle in a short amount of time. The photo posted is one style of vehicle and PGA has decided to purhase a Kia L270  that seats 19 people. UPDATE: The ministry has collected $1458.25 and now they only need 13541.75 to be able to purchase this vehicle....

Good Report from the Philippines

Dear Friends at ANM, Shalom! For about a couple of months now, we are praying to the Lord concerning our daughter Praise. We praise and thank our Lord for giving us a daughter who has a dream and passion to help the Aeta children and women in the area of human rights and  legalities. Many of the Aeta people are being harassed and oppressed by influential people especially concerning their rights as a people. They are being maltreated, abused, discriminated, insulted and taken advantage of cruel and crafty people. One tragic example of abuse and inhuman treatment done to the Aetas was about Marilou and her son Samuel.  Marilou was brought to the local hospital to give birth to her...

THANK YOU DEAR FRIENDS FOR THE 100 SHOES

March 2011 To Our Dear Friends, We rejoice in the Lord for your generous responses to our appeal letter to meet the various project needs for our recent trip visiting with Philippine Gospel Association (PGA). PGA’s hosting of a Post-Valentine Dinner Concert for a Cause - Amazing Love was a success!  We had a good crowd of 250 people who attended the concert and were blessed by the singing of Mindy Spurrier with the ANM Team and the Faith Singers coming from different evangelical churches in Cebu City.  Dr. Linda Balugo extends her heartfelt gratitude for your special love gifts to make Maghaway Project 2011: “Shoes for a Child” a reality.  Dr. Linda...

Feeding the 500,000

Between feeding programs, shoe box gifts, and discipleship programs, Bethesda Ministries in the Philippines is currently reaching 500,000 children, but who knows how much impact comes from the "ripple" effect that trickles throughout the family - brothers, sisters, parents, grandparents and housemates. Such an effect could easily add up to 1,000,000 people being reached with the saving message of Jesus Christ.   The ministry leaders at Bethesda are excited about the infinite possibilities that have been unfolding before their eyes. They’ve worked so hard to come to this point, yet they realize that the work is not yet finished. But the many amazing testimonies that are being told...

The Fire in my Heart

I am one of the teachers at GEBS as I want to share the things that God has taught me. I thank God for GEBS and for the people whom He his using to challenge me to really live by faith. To God be the glory! My name is Glory Suplico from the province of Palawan. I enrolled in GEBS in 2007, leaving my husband and two children in Palawan. In spite of hardships, financially and emotionally, I was able to endure because I truly love the Lord Who called me. He has proven to be true to His promises. I am now in my third yead in the seminary. My husband and two daughters are now with me at GEBS. God has been so faithful in providing for our needs. I am earnestly praying that the fire in my heart...

A Second Chance from God

I am Pastor Sellry Eli Pioquinto. I came to GEBS when I was a boy. My aunt took me here and I said then, "When I grow up I would study here." However, being an only child, I was overprotected by my parents. After high school I studied in different secular schools in Bacolod City but did not finish because I knew God had called me to the ministry. I enrolled in Doane Baptist Seminary with sufficient support but i abused  God's blessings. In my third year I was disciplined. In defiance, I left the seminary, went to Manila and stayed away from the Lord. For seven years I wasted my time and lived in the world. But I praise God that whomever He loves, He chastens. I returned home repentant and...

Ears That Hear, Eyes That See!

One of our ministry partners has a need for an otoscope and opthalmoscope set. Philippine Gospel Association is a medical missions team serving those in need in the Philippines. These instruments, which are used for checking the ears and eyes would be a wonderful addition to their current equipment. Many of the medical outreaches they hold have individuals that have severe problems but without proper equipment, it goes undetected. If you would like to supply funding for this need, please check out project #644 in our list of projects....

Medical Team Needs Glucometers

One of our partner ministries in the Philippines is in need of two sets of Glucometers for their medical missions.  Philippine Gospel Association (PGA) is a medical ministry that is headed up by Dr. Linda, a small lady in stature, but a giant when it comes to the spiritual and medical needs of her country.  PGA has a dedicated staff of pastors, doctors and dentists that give of their time and knowledge to reach many in the Philippines.  What they lack is equipment to do the necessary tests and examines to help their patients. Would you consider giving to this great need?  One unit is $250.00. If you are interested in giving, please see project #643 in our list of projects. ...

UPDATE ON PHILIPPINES VISION TRIP

Here is an update from Mindy Spurrier, the ANM Staff Leader for this trip:  We are headed to the Philippines in February to SEE what God is doing, SERVE those who are working, SHARE the love of Christ by serving those in need, and SHARE what we have seen when we return.  Just this week I worked on the schedule and it looks like the team will be doing ministry in prisons, working with a medical mission teams at a feeding center, possibly some light construction, musical concerts, puppet shows, working with young leaders, seeing some amazing, fruitful ministries, and giving out lots of encouragement.  I am working with our national leaders to firm up the...

Neighborhood Burns in Philippines

On November 21 we received the following letter from Danny and Cita Montes, the missionary leaders of Living Rock Ministries in the Philippines: "Dear Brother Romy, "Last Sunday right after our church worship a tragedy has happened. One neighborhood in Calbayog City, a neighborhood called Aguititan, near the of the port of Calbayog, was burned down.  There were 800 families who lived in that neighborhood and all their houses were burned. I have 21 families that were affected and they a members of our church.  Unfortunately they only got few things out, since it was right after our church worship. Testimony of the Capulis

Romy and Kaye served as national missionaries for 15 years in the Philippines before coming to America. With hearts for world missions, they started by planting Fil-Am Community Church in Northern Virginia in 1996. After nurturing Fil-Am Church for 12 years, they accepted the call for global missions through Advancing Native Missions (ANM) as Co-Directors for Southeast Asian countries starting January of 2010. The Capulis have come full circle in their missionary journey. Their new ministry will be to advocate for and equip thousands of native and indigenous missionaries to the unreached people of the world particularly the 11 countries of Southeast Asian region. Romy grew up very religious...

FEBRUARY 2011 MISSION TRIP TO THE PHILIPPINES

Join us as we travel to the Philippines to serve alongside several different island ministires. One of those ministries is Asian Youth and Children's Ministry (AYCM) located on Negros Island.  Since 1989, this ministry has taught thousands of youth and children about Jesus and His love through camps – overnight camps, one-day camps, school retreats, leadership training seminars and youth fellowships.  The kids have fun and their hearts are touched by the Lord.  The camp facility is called Camp JeLoY meaning “Jesus Loves You.”  AYCM has many other programs including a feeding ministry, a clothes closet and Christian kindergarten school.  We...

Aetas Bible Study and Worship Center

Organized by Wilson Ladringan, whose ambition as a child was to become a soldier like his father, the Aetas Bible Study and Worship Center (ABSC) is a ministry reaching out to the illiterate and impoverished aborigines of the Philippines known as the Aetas. The eruption of Mount Pinatubo in June 1991 buried most of the mountains of Zambales in volcanic ash and sand, displacing many of the Aetas who lived in these mountains. ABSC runs Maranatha Children’s Home that primarily caters to the physical, educational, and spiritual needs of the indigent Aeta children and youth ages 5 to 18 years from the different tribal villages in Zambales. Both Wilson and Cora have degrees in education, which...

Editor's Note:  On Friday, October 22 we received the following communication from Wilson Ladringan of the Aetas Bible Study & Worship Center in the Philippines.  Please keep this ministry in your prayers, as well as the people in the Philippines who are suffering from this typhoon.   Dear Friends at ANM, The joy, peace and most of all, the  love of Jesus be with you all! Recipe for Filipino Noodles

One of the most common dishes in the Philippines is pancit.  Pancit (pronounced pan-sit) is a generic term for noodles.  It comes from a Chinese word meaning "something that is convenient to cook."  It is a dish often prepared for special occasions.  This is especially true for birthdays, and many Filipino homes make pancit a featured part of any birthday celebration.  Pancit comes in many variations and adaptions.  It is one of those dishes for which everyone seems to have their personal favorite recipe.  Below you will find a recipe from one of our ANM staff members.  Here in our ANM offices, we have enjoyed this version of pancit on many occasions. ...

Brian's Story

Brian was an eighteen-year old drug courier who was also using crack cocaine, marijuana, other street drugs and alcohol.   He was invited to attend a youth camp near his hometown, and there he found love, acceptance, and Christian fellowship.  When the invitation was given to accept Jesus as Savior and Lord during the final chapel service, Brian was one of the first ones who came, crying his heart out to the One who had been crucified to wash away the sins of the world - Brian's sins. While giving his testimony, he asked the camp leader if he could hug her. She held him tightly for a long time, overwhelmed by God’s goodness and...

The Miracle of Love

Romy Mendoza was skin and bones when he was found by a native missionary in the Philippines. Diagnosed with an acute and drug-resistant TB disease, Romy was waiting to die just as his parents and siblings had before him. The government doctor who examined Romy told the native missionary the sad news of Romy's condition, but even knowing how slim the boy's chance of survival was, this missionary took him into his home. Romy was taken to a Christian Medical Clinic where he stayed in the isolation room. For more than a year he was prayed for, fed, clothed, given medications, and most importantly, treated with loving care. After that year had passed, a doctor took his chest x-ray and declared that...

Highlights and What is to Come

When I look back at what God did through Student Missions this year I am humbled and in awe. To think that student missions did not exist at ANM 3 years ago and to see all that God has done is incredible. I am so blessed to be a part of what God is doing around the world and to be able to get students involved. The following are some of the highlights from this past year: We had the opportunity to visit 3 college campuses and a college club to get students excited about native missions Had a university take on projects to support the work God is doing through native missionaries in 20 countries There have been about 10 college students involved in projects to advance the work that ANM is...

Ministering to the Ministers

I recently received a report from the Philippines that told of taking a bunch of pastors' wives shopping. These were women who constantly give of themselves and rarely receive anything in return. They were so overjoyed at being given a new dress or pair of shoes that tears came to their eyes as they thanked those who had blessed them with these simple gifts over and over. Advancing Native Missions is taking the same method of encouragement to Africa. Once again, we are going to bless those who give away what little they have. Please pray for these women who pour their hearts into serving alongside their husbands....

Roofing Filipino Churches

In our American churches, we don't ever think about inclement weather interrupting our services or causing us physical discomfort. However, many of our brothers and sisters around the world face the elements literally "without a roof over their heads." But you can help provide for Filipino believers as they gather to worship. For only eight dollars, you can purchase a 3 foot by 8 foot piece of roofing material. Generally it only takes twenty pieces to cover a whole church building, so for only $160 dollars you could supply an entire roof for a Filipino church family. Please pray for these people as they continue to gather together in worship despite the elements....

Natural Disasters in the Philippines & Indonesia

Written by Joel Maas, Advancing Native Missions A/V Coordinator Advancing Native Missions has received several reports from both the Philippines as well as Indonesia regarding the natural disasters that have hit in those countries this past week, and will be acting as a conduit to channel donated funds through our partner ministries to victims of the typhoon and earthquake. Here is an edited portion of an email we received after the flooding hit several provinces in the Philippines: “Death and destruction are all around us because of the recent typhoon and flood…  Many people are on the rooftop and crying and asking for help.  Many of them were caught unprepared to this...
