An Expedition Update
During The 10/40 Expedition: Quest for the Lost Window’s first year in the marketing world, we sold 30 curriculums. In most cases, the curriculum was used as a VBS, but it was also used as: a summer camp curriculum a Wednesday night study a fall quarter Sunday School curriculum an outreach to a Sioux reservation Many of the churches using the curriculum hosted missionaries the church already supports who shared with the children either in person or via Skype. For those who weren’t able to do this, we had missionaries available to come and share their hearts and ministry. Two different missionaries sponsored by ANM traveled to five Expeditions in order to give children a clearer...

PARTNER with us to ENGAGE the NEXT GENERATION!
One of our main goals is to find ways to engage the next generation in what God is doing through native missions. But we need your help, and we need your prayers. Please continue to pray that God's power, presence, and guidance will be our strength and ever-present help. We have found that to engage means "to make active". Therefore, we must: educate the next generation about native missions by developing fun, interactive, native missions-minded, God-centered curriculum/resources so children & youth leaders are empowered. stress the importance of prayer by giving children & students ways they can pray for native missionaries. give opportunities to students to use their talents...

Who's Afraid of the Big, Bad Wolf?
Abby's heart pounded wildly in her chest. She had picked the wrong shepherd, and now she was facing the consequences. In her mind, she knew the scene playing out before her was just an act, but it seemed so real, and as the screams from her other crew members rose around her, Abby got a little scared. The person in the wolf costume was rapidly approaching the flimsy sheepfold, and the so-called shepherd had bailed. "It's just an act," she reminded herself. "It's just an act." But as the wolf took hold of her cousin, Abby forgot that fact of which she had been working so hard to convince herself. She went into full defense mode, thinking of nothing more than saving...

Preparing Your Kids
For those of you who are using the 10/40 Expedition curriculum, perhaps you would like to take a slower introduction to native missions before diving into this five-day expedition of a lifetime. Why don't you begin preparing your children ahead of time by telling missionary stories in their Sunday School classes? Kids will be amazed to learn that the miracles of the Bible are still happening around the world today. Don't know any missionary stories? ANM press has come up with a book of 100 inspirational stories of missionaries from around the world. These short stories consist of only two pages, so they could be easily worked into any setting, and there is a good chance that you...

Sweet Prayers
Here's an interesting way to get kids to pray for the countries of the 10/40 Window: In case you haven't noticed, the 10/40 Expedition's travel logs are color-coded. Africa is yellow, Middle East is purple, and so on. Hand each of your kids an m&m and have them pray for the region that matches their assigned color (perhaps substituting brown for purple). If you have come up with any interesting ways to use The 10/40 Expedition: Quest for the Lost Window curriculum, please email Rebekah so we can share the idea and help one another....

Expedition Tips
The 10/40 Expedition is up and running! Churches all over the United States are making their plans. What I find most exciting about these expedition preparations is that these hardworking children's ministers are sharing their wonderful ideas with me. In the past few weeks, I have heard so many amazing suggestions that I feel should be shared with others who may be leading an expedition. I will try to keep these posts coming faithfully every Saturday, so be sure to check back in for the latest expedition news. Now for tip #1... As you may know, the most unique part of The 10/40 Expedition is the opportunity to have a native missionary come share with your kids. We've had several people...

The 10/40 Expedition Global Games
The 10/40 Expedition's Global Games is the site where kids expend energy while learning Biblical truths. We have tried to add a cultural flair to these games. For instance, checkers, chess, and card games are among the favorite games played in Africa, so one of our game options is "human" checkers. The Middle East day has secret code games, and when your children visit Southeast Asia, they will learn how to play Filipino tag. At this site, your children will learn to work together to discover and share God's Word. Not only does Global Games provide a great opportunity for your kids to release all their cooped-up energy, but they will also experience games played by people the world over....

Marketplace Snacks
And now for another glimpse into The 10/40 Expedition: Quest for the Lost Window: Marketplace Snacks gives children a taste of eating around the world. At this site, children get to sample rice and fruits and other foods that are eaten throughout the 10/40 Window. They will also be taught some of the eating customs from the regions they will be exploring. On the day that they will visit the Far East, you might even let your explorers try eating with chop sticks. Concerned that your kids will be picky about sampling things with names like hummus or ugali? Don't be. Expedition Guides and the Marketplace Snacks leaders have been surprised at the children's willingness to immerse themselves in other...

Missionary Outpost
Missionary Outpost is probably the key thing that makes The 10/40 Expedition: Quest for the Lost Window different from any other curriculum. While we take kids through the usual stations such as games, snacks, crafts, and a Bible story, Missionary Outpost is the heart of it all. If there wasn't Missionary Outpost, there would be no 10/40 Expedition. Missionary Outpost is the site where the kids get to explore the different regions of the 10/40 Window. It is here that they learn about the different countries and cultures and are told how native missionaries are reaching the lost people of the 10/40 Window. Your kids will learn fun facts about different areas...

Why This Bag is Special
The tote bag in which The 10/40 Expedition is packaged was made by women in India. Because of a native missionary, these ladies heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ and were saved from a life of slavery. Your support in purchasing this curriculum aids in their new life of freedom. There are over 60,000 sex workers in the city of Mumbai, India. Every day, these young women are forced to do horrible things in order to pay off a debt they owe to the brothel owners who bought them. Many times these debts are far too high to ever be repaid, and those who do achieve in purchasing their freedom often have no place to go. Having been rejected by their families, these women turn back to the only other thing...

The Window's Adventure Rally
Today we will explore another aspect of The 10º/40º Expedition: Quest for the Lost Window. Adventure Rally is the gathering place for all Expedition Groups at the beginning of each day. Kids will be introduced to the day's region of the 10º/40º Window, the Bible story, and Trail Tip, and will also enjoy learning eight original songs as they sing praises to the One True God. They will delight in meeting Addison Venture, a self-proclaimed world FAMOUS explorer. Kids will observe Ad's desperate quest to find the 10º/40º Window, which he believes to be an actual window of incredible value. He will find many crazy treasures before he learns...

Native Creations
It is time for yet another glimpse inside "The 10º/40º Expedition: Quest for the Lost Window" curriculum. This time, I will give you a preview of the Native Creations site. This is where the kids are allowed to exercise their creativity in constructing crafts with a native flair. The curriculum offers two different craft ideas. For the day that focuses on Africa, you can create either an African drum or a tribal necklace. Upon "traveling" to the Middle East, you are given the options of either Turkish pottery or a mosaic garden stone. South Asia will give you a chance to make an Indian wall hanging or Indian jingle bracelets. When "exploring" South East Asia, you are given instructions...

A Glimpse into the Window
If you've been hearing about the 10/40 Expedition, but aren't entirely sure what it is, allow me to clear a few things up for you. First of all, it is about changing lives. It is about reaching the hearts of children with the love of Jesus and encouraging them to share it with their friends and family, but it also encourages them to pray for missionaries around the world who are sharing God's love every day in their own countries. Specifically, the 10º/40º Window. But to give you a glimpse into this curriculum, let me tell you about "Bring-It-On-Home Finale." After learning about Jesus and missions through songs and dramas, crafts and games, interactive activity...

Introducing...A New ANM Team Member
It is our great pleasure to introduce to you our newest addition to the ANM Team. Over the last few years, as we developed the 10/40 Expedition curriculum, we have been praying that the Lord would bring someone to help, to be the Curriculum Coordinator. Well as you will read below, God is so faithful and so creative. Please join us in welcoming and praying for our newest addition to the ANM Family, Rebekah Snyder. "I grew up in a Christian home with parents who made Jesus so easy to believe in. I gave my heart to Him when I was very young, never once doubting His existence. My first real test of faith came when I was ten years old. In a period of five short months, I lost two...

UPDATE: The 10/40 Expedition Curriculum
While the NXG "on-site" team was in India, The 10/40 Expedition Curriculum was piloted at a church in Iowa Thankfully, our "off-site" team of volunteers who have helped develop the curriculum were able to go and see their hard work in action. By taking pictures, video, and interviewing, our team was able to capture many God moments. We have had many reports since the Pilot. We will keep you updated as we hear more. But please join with us in praising the Lord for all that He is doing to bring glory to His name! Over 100 kids attended the Pilot Expedition By the end of the week, 32 children came forward to accept the Lord as their Savior. At the same time, one father also came to...
